Andy Hehnlin
Picture Alaska art gallery is proud to feature new original egg tempera paintings by Nikiski artist and goldminer, Andy Hehnlin. Hehnlin takes time from his busy summers gold mining to observe and photograph the Alaskan landscape and during the long winter months, he transforms his photographs and memories into vibrant paintings using egg-tempera, which was developed during the Renaissance and used by many artists including deVinci and Michelangelo. This realistic painting medium is made with egg yoke, distilled water and pigments creating a unique surface with beautiful optical properties.
